International Showcase Programme

8th-12th February 2017

“The work that is presented (at IBT) is always inspiring – it was great to have that platform, to be with other artists” Selina Thompson (artist)

Since 2001, In Between Time’s festivals have showcased artists, but the IBT17 Bristol International Festival was a special year for us.

The International Showcase sat at the heart of IBT17 Bristol International Festival combined 22 shows within a wider programme of 40 events. This programme was curated to reflect the most urgent artistic work emanating from across UK’s wide contemporary performance and live art sector. Works were curated to reflect the broadest range of practices, forms and inventive approaches to audience. Many of these works and artists have never been showcased to an international audience before.

200 delegates attended the showcase from Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Newcastle, Brighton, Cardiff, Jersey, Folkstone, Belfast, Brussels, Dublin, Athens, Ljubljana, Helsinki, Porto, Riga, Friebourg, Melbourne, Sydney, Tasmania, Hong Kong, Kyoto, New York, Seattle, Seoul, Shanghai, Penang, Vancouver

40 international delegates were subsided by Arts Council England to develop new global markets for UK artists.

'We felt immediately welcome at the festival and were delighted to meet all partners and stakeholders, the artists and producers and so many of our international colleagues. The range of work on show was comprehensive and we are confident that many productive contacts were made with the Australian presenters. Congratulations to all on a remarkable international showcase' Sophie Travers, International Development Manager Europe, Australia Council for the Arts

'The festival was brilliant and it was great to see how connected and connecting it was with the city' Clare Reddington, Creative Director, Watershed
