THE DEMOCRATIC SET

JULY 2018

'I feel alive.' PERFORMER AT FILWOOD COMMUNITY CENTRE

100 people from across Bristol collaborated with world-renowned Back to Back Theatre to create a film of their city.

Back to Back Theatre brought The Democratic Set to the UK for the first time for the IBT10 Festival. Eight years later, in July 2018, they returned to Bristol to create a new film with people from across the city.

Over four days people joined us in Netham Park, Barton Hill and Filwood Community Centre, Knowle West. Their performances were captured on camera to create a film to be premiered in Autumn 2019.

This project is part of We Are Bristol, a three-year programme which brings together international artists with the people of Bristol to create extraordinary artworks and events.

We Are Bristol has been developed in partnership with Up Our Street, Knowle West Media Centre, Ambition Lawrence Weston and UWE with funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Bristol City Council.

'The crew are ingenious, sensitive to the ideas that are brought to them and to the sensibility of those who bring them... And, thanks to all their efforts, I must say, I left happy.' OSUNWUNMI, PERFORMER IN THE DEMOCRATIC SET AT IBT10
